Mrs. Tarun, originally from Karwar, moved to Udupi decades ago with a vision to serve society's often-overlooked members. Her noble initiative, Hosabelaku (meaning 'new light' in Kannada), has grown from a modest beginning to become a crucial support system for elderly individuals in need of care and companionship.
Recently, the organization marked a significant milestone by relocating to a new facility in Bailoor, made possible through a generous building donation. However, with the growing number of residents seeking shelter each month, the challenges of maintaining adequate supplies and care have intensified.
The turning point came when a prominent Mangalore-based doctor raised awareness through social media about Hosabelaku's urgent need for essential supplies. This digital SOS caught the attention of Ventana Foundation, prompting immediate action. The foundation stepped forward with crucial support, providing much-needed groceries and adult diapers to ensure the residents' comfort and dignity.
"Every elderly person here has a story, and each deserves to live with dignity," shares Mrs. Tarun. "The support from organizations like Ventana Foundation helps us ensure that our residents receive the care they deserve."
The ripple effect of this intervention was remarkable. Following the doctor's tweet and Ventana Foundation's swift response, numerous donors came forward to support Hosabelaku, creating a chain reaction of generosity that helped stabilize the organization's resources.
This collaborative response from the community highlights the importance of social media in connecting those in need with those who can help. While many donors have since stepped forward, Ventana Foundation takes pride in being among the first responders during this critical time, demonstrating the importance of timely intervention in humanitarian causes.
Hosabelaku continues to serve as a model for elderly care, showing how community support and organized charity can make a significant difference in the lives of our senior citizens. As Mrs. Tarun often says, "In caring for our elderly, we honor our past and inspire our future." Ventana Foundation remains committed to supporting such noble initiatives that strengthen the fabric of our society.
